Food-

The food that dolphins eat is different for each species. Some species eat fish like herring, cod and salmon. Usually, the amount of  fish they hunt depends on the type of water they are in. When given a choice dolphins eat more squid than fish because they have more fat and fat is energy. On average, a dolphin weighs between 200 and 250 Kg. They usually eat around 10 to 25 Kg per day.

 Hunting strategy:

Dolphins use a strategy called "Herding" to catch fish. They surround the school of fish to keep them in one place. Dolphins in the pod take turns diving into the school to eat. Other dolphins are much bigger and smack the fish with their tails to stun them. When dolphins are hunting for prey they usually hunt in pods, working together for their food.
